grateful.

this past weekend i had the opportunity to take part in the 30 hour famine. An event created and facilitated through World Vision. The premise of the event was to fast for 30 hours in a way of bringing awareness to the issue of hunger and starvation that plagues third world countries. The junior high and high school group at church, Refuge Calvary Chapel Huntington Beach, raised money through sponsors, and we also held a car wash on Saturday to raise more funds. Both were very successful in raising a total over $2,500. It doesn’t seem like that much, but we actually raised enough money to feed seven children for an entire year. Did you know that $1 a day feed a child in third world country? That blows my mind, especially since I can’t even buy my favorite Starbucks drink for $1. Close, but not quite.

This event really hit home to me when thinking of how fortunate I am, and have been. No matter how low I’ve ever been, I am still so much better off than many. I’ve learned to take the time to say “Thanks”, to acknowledge God for his bountiful blessings in my life, and to not take things for granted. But I shouldn’t ever forget the images of children that suffer everyday.

our one year.

the day started off with our favorite breakfast treat, a blueberry bagel.

mine with strawberry cream cheese. his with butter.

then off we went, down the 405, down the 5, down the 805.

to reach our destination: Coronado Island.

It was beautiful! I’ve never been, so it was a wonderful surprise!

in tow, Daniel brought our bicycles, so that we could ride around the beautiful island. we rode to the Hotel Del Coronado, and then took a little walking break.

after lunch, we stopped at a little gem of a french bistro. it was delicious!

we ate our lunch, and rode some more, stopping by the wonderful shoreline to take a picture.

we crossed back over the bridge and went to seaport village, where daniel shared some of his favorite sentimental stores with me. IMG_4285 IMG_4277  IMG_4284 IMG_4279

we sat on a stone wall, while daniel enjoyed his seven dollar ice cream cone. it was worth every bite.

we strolled the streets of the gaslamp district, finding a gem of a vase for 50% of a 50% off price. fabulous!

after a pleasant visit with his parents, we proceeded to our final destination: Chart House in Dana Point. A wonderful restaurant resting on the cliff that overlooks Dana Point Harbor.

Daniel is wonderful. I can’t wait for many more years together.

sick of being sick.

being sick is one of the lowest of lows. you feel achy and irritable, uncomfortable and weak.

i obtained this sickness of Tuesday night, the cause of which is still unknown. i am thankful that this sickness occurred over my spring break, as to not really delay school work and stuff. the only thing is that i’m missing work time, when a lot of things need to be done.

i’ve been in and out of nyquil induced naps. locked my keys inside my house as i walked outside to get something from daniel. watched classic shows (ie. saved by the bell, fresh prince of bel air, i love lucy).

i’m just ready for this to be over. soon. soon. soon. i have to be better by saturday.
